My wife is expecting. I was gifted a few hundred dollars for our future daughter and started looking into 529's. Are there any downsides to them? The options aren't wide open but there seem to be some decent options. I live in IL which allows for state tax deductions.
I plan to throw the money in a mix of broad market index funds.
