I've been apart of this sub for a good amount of time and have never seen any posts related to estate sales, if there have been this will be a good reminder. There are varying reasons to attend an estate sale, whether its a weekend hobby, you shop collectors items, or even if you are in need of everyday household items. Estate sales tend to have more quantity and quality than your regular weekend garage sale. It's as if you walked into a fully furnished home and everything is for sale.

From my experience, most estate sale listings can be found online, a website I frequently use is estatesales.net . Using these kind of websites saves a lot of time because many of the big items are photographed and listed so you have a decent idea of what each home is selling and decide whether or not its worth making the trip. The websites are also helpful because you can look to see if the ritzier neighborhoods are having any sales.

Over the last few months I have purchased all of my gardening tools, high quality kitchen items, furniture, and even items to start a new hobby. To add to the layers of frugality, on the last day of the sale (often on Sundays) everything left in the house is half off! The downside is, if you are looking for any one particular item, especially on a Sunday, it does take some luck and patience to find what you need and at a quality that you are willing to spend it for.

Even if you aren't in the market for anything in particular, it is a great way to get out and explore your city, wonder around unique homes and neighborhoods, and have a chance to buy something that you never thought you needed.
