My specific situation is that I’m looking at buying some really fuzzy, comfortable slip on booties. There are two situations where I will wear these boots: walking my dog daily and going to the climbing gym 3x a week. I do both these things at night, and I’ve found that I have been wearing my un-insulated rain boots to do both these activities just because they’re easy to slip on (my other boots all have laces or heels, making them less practical). The problem is that, because I live in the Midwest, my feet have been uncomfortably cold.

Uggs are super expensive, but I’ve found I like Dearfoams and they’re a bit more affordable. However, I keep thinking to myself “You can just keep wearing the rain boots… Sure it’s a little cold but you won’t lose any toes.”

In general, how do you decide if a purchase is frivolous? I cant stop thinking this purchase wouldn’t be frugal because I can just wear the rain boots.
