Hey all. Long time lurker, this is my first time posting. Also using a throwaway.
I (18) got my first job last Saturday as a cashier at the biggest supermarket chain in Switzerland.
The interview went well, the branch manager and I agreed on hourly pay and we both signed the contract, which states my pay and when I was to start. I would start tomorrow, 26.10.21.
Today I got a phone call from the branch manager telling me he had made a "mistake" and the agreed-upon hourly wage I would be getting is actually 2 CHF lower than the wage we agreed upon during the interview. He asked me if I would still start working under this condition, I told him I'd have to think about it.
This is very disappointing as I had applied to multiple supermarket locations and also other jobs, declining their invites to interviews, because I was under the assumption that I am hired under the conditions we both signed.
Isn't the contract we both signed with my pay on it legally binding? Is he allowed to change the conditions? Honestly, this all has killed off my motivation to work at that specific supermarket location, with things already getting off to a wrong start.
I have to call the branch manager back in a couple of hours, what are some points I should bring up? I am usually not the confrontational type, so I'd appreciate any help.
