I have around 110,000 AUD in savings (80,000 USD) which should be enough to migrate once borders open in Australia. I'm single and don't plan to get married anytime (Next 5 years). I work as a programmer but know other stuff in the Computer science field too and make ~70,000 USD per year currently and I have all HECS paid off (student loans).

I want to move to the U.S because of cheaper property prices (I really want to own a home) and because it's better for my field of work than compared to here. However I am very aware of what happened in the past year and the median house price shot up dramatically, despite this it's still way cheaper than Australia. I need to apply for an E3 Visa so an employer can legally accept me into the U.S and I'm aware of that.

Which areas are good for my situation? I know places like Seattle and the Bay Area are full of well paying Computer Science jobs but the problem is that house prices and rent are just off the charts there so I don't know if it's good to move there. What about the Southern U.S, the Midwest? I know the Northeast, primarily NY and NJ are expensive too but it seems a bit more affordable than the west coast.

Leave suggestions down below.
