Pretty much giving up job search. Looking at this being "retirement".
61/62 YO couple. Excellent / good health. Significant cash on hand for next couple years. Much of my money in traditional 401k / large cap index funds. Taxable brokerage stimular with lots of capital gains. Small pension unclaimed.
Considerations
-
Health insurance til Medicare.
-
When to start social security (have enough to wait it out til 70, but seriously depletes savings). How to plan around potential huge cut in SS shortly after my 70th.
-
Smart investing transition and timeline. Considering converting all 401ks to consolidated IRA and investing in QYLD or similar in the IRA.
-
401k and capital gains tax strategy
-
Take pension as lump sum or monthly. When?
Currently living mostly on cash "emergency fund"
My brokerage (Schwab) has some services that says I have enough to retire. They want me to spend $300 on more extensive one time analysis. I'm skeptical it's going to be very helpful.
Feel informed about problems but not the solutions. Don't know what I don't know. Would like to put my finances on autopilot and just enjoy my retirement.
Thanks for suggestions!
