I dont have to pay rent the next year and a half, and have no car payment. I will have a utility bill, wifi, gas and stuff like groceries, therapy co pays yada yada but I wont have any large major bills.
I make around 2 grand a month after tax, with room to make much more if I pick up overtime- I do intend to pick up over time often but I want to budget as if Im not.
I have no budgeting skills, no savings, and about 2 grand in credit card debt. I was handed this rent free opportunity and I want to use it as my chance to change my ways and build a nest egg.
I am 23, and have zero experience budgeting, I am very much a pay check to pay check person. My bills have always been paid in full and on time but I scrape by and I would be screwed if I ever had an emergency. I dont want to live like this anymore.
What are some things I can do with all this money that would otherwise be going to rent or a car, that can set me up for a more secure future?
Step one is obviously paying down the credit card debt of course.
But I dont even know where to start after that- I have always been told in passing "Dont just put it in a savings, also do something to make it grow!"
