24M outside NYC just landed a new gig making 85k salary plus around 5k yearly bonus. I’ve been lucky enough to move back home with my parents during COVID and save a good amount. I have around 50k in various investment/checking/savings accounts and no debt. The thing is my hometown is pretty far outside of NYC and there’s really not much to do, my life is pretty much work, gym, sleep repeat. It’s getting me pretty down.
So I’d like to move back to the city and enjoy my life a bit while I’m young. The apartments I’m looking at are around $1800 monthly. Can I afford this on my salary while also continuing to max my 401k and Roth? Is it a good idea to move out at this age/salary?
