Recently I got recommended an app by a friend called TooGoodToGo. Might be Europe specific, but holy shit it reduced my grocery expenses.
The idea is to buy a "magic box" via the app from grocery stores, bakeries or meals from restaurants containing food/meal that would be otherwise thrown out (close expiry date), for a very reduced price. For example for a whole bag of a variety of groceries (raw meat, potato, yoghurt, salad, fruit juice) I pay 5 euros. This would be around 25 otherwise.
Just wanted to share with you in case you wanna try and look it up in your country if there are similar initiations!
