Hi folks. So, I just got a job as an office assistant at a large law firm in my town that specializes in personal injury and workers comp. in my initially phone interview the woman I spoke with (the office manager in charge of hiring) said the job started at $11/hr but that given my level of experience she could go higher. The phone interview happened on Friday, and I met for an in person interview Monday, August 2. The following day, Wednesday August 3rd, I got a call back formally offering me the position. I accepted. I was then told that I will be starting at $10.50/hr. I was a bit thrown by this, as the job listing and initial phone interview said $11/hr and then in the interview I was told that they could spring for more given my experience. I have accepted the job already and my first day is tomorrow. I make $11/hr at my current job though I only get about 18-20 hours a week, and this new job offers 32-40 hours + benefits. So, either way it’s a better deal. That being said, I’m discouraged by the $10.50/hr as the job listing said $11/hr and I was initially told I could make more, I anticipated being offered at least $12-13/hr. Is there an appropriate way to bring this up given that I have already accepted? I would even be ok with $11/hr, though again, I was told I could make a dollar or two/hour more. I am nervous to bring this up, as I really need the job. Any tips?
