As a general rule, by the time you hear a piece of news on regular news sources, the action has 'already happened' and is priced in. Rumors are possibly worth trading on, but could be risky anyways.

There's no point 'following' something as backwards-looking as the news when it comes to something like trying to make solid investments. The news doesn't know actual causes for things, they usually just provide their best guess looking backwards. The whole goal is to think ahead and look forward, looking backwards alone will not achieve that for you. As a hot take, I feel the same way about technical analysis.

Best of all is to understand fundamental analysis and make a real DD looking forward.
