I apparently overpaid for daycare when my daughter was younger, and the company contacted me last year about returning the money to me. They however wanted to charge me $40 for a “processing fee” to refund me my money. Is that legal? They said if I didn’t choose that option they would send it to unclaimed property in Florida, which they haven’t done either. It’s been over a year and should have been listed by now, but my guess is they didn’t process it as unclaimed to get petty since I questioned the fact they were even trying to charge me a fee to return my money. Are they able to charge me money for returning my overpayment?
