I see several homeless people on a weekly basis. I would just hand them odd change or a buck here and there etc.

But I started thinking about it and realized there has to be a better way. Something I can do as an individual. I'm not part of a church or organization. So I started making mini meal kits. A juice box, package of chicken salad with crackers and bag of trail mix. I buy everything at a dollar store and it's $1.50 per meal.

The problem is that's it's not a lot of food. It works out to about.450 calories. Is there a better combination? I've thought about obvious things like buying in bulk and repacking etc. But I don't feel comfortable doing that. Everything needs to be commercially packaged individual serving sizes and shelf stable.

I know it's a weird question, but any ideas?
