I remember in the early internet days, people trying to only artificially stir up conversation about a stock would get hit with a $150,000 fine. Now it seems theres so many people that its impossible to regulate.

Does anyone know somebody who works at Finra or the SEC or understand what will happen to the current reddit traders trying to pump stocks by literally saying "lets pump this stock?" I think its likely that the government will try to get after each and every one of these people over the next decade or so. Not only because its illegal, but institutions who were hurt(few, seems most institutions have actually taken advantage of the average trader) will pressure them to do so.
