I currently use TD Ameritrade, but only on my phone. The problem with the app is that it is very limited. I don’t have access to a computer often. I was on the fidelity app and saw they have much more resources to use. Would I be able to open a Fidelity account with a $0 balance to use these resources?
I’m currently 17, so I’m using my dad’s Roth IRA since he doesn’t qualify to use it anymore. It has $1000 on it but I’m planning on adding about $1800 to an account. Initially I wanted to add it to Fidelity, but I was advised by my father to keep all my money in one place (Cause it’s easier for him). I plan on opening my own Roth IRA with Fidelity when I turn 18 either way and investing with them.
Edit: The reason why he doesn’t want to go with Fidelity is because opening a custodial account takes much longer to create than a standard account. And he doesn’t want to be spammed by emails. He’s also unfamiliar with them so he’s hesitant.
