I've been wanting to buy a car recently. I don't need a 2nd car or insurance payment at all. Upon some self reflection I've realized the main reason I want the vehicle is so that I look like I have made money. I'm not sure what combination of vanity and insecurity it is but it isn't frugal and it's a real desire. So I guess I'm asking how others handle the notion of purchases for the sake of appearances.
