Over the last year I've realized a LOT of my excess spending is from the grocery store. I have a bad tendency to pick up expensive pre-made meals and sometimes do dumb things like buying a big pack of chicken and only eating half of it before having to throw the remainder out. My goal now is to get my grocery budget under $400.
The twist here is that I am very active and need to get a lot of protein, and it seems like a lot of frugal eating guides rely too much on high carb diets like pasta and such. I am used to eating greek yogurt for breakfast with berries. For lunch I make a sandwich with deli meat. Dinner is usually a chicken breast and veggies. I also cook beef at least once a week.
Thus far my strategy is to rely a lot more on frozen foods and bulk items. I got several large frozen bags of chicken. I did shrimp one week. I think this is helping, but now sure if i'll be able to hit my goal.
Any advice?
