During pandemic I decided to do some DIY projects. Took apart this promotional sunglasses with attached Bluetooth tiny speakers, and wired the Bluetooth part to some bigger speakers... But I needed to solder that, so I bought a soldering iron kit, tried and failed a lot. But eventually got it right and now I can solder two cables... Yay!
Since then, instead of paying for expensive stuff, I made and fix my own cables for the guitar. Made a switch for the amp, and some other small stuff around the house.
Then I decided to change one of the potentiometers of my old hifi as it was not working. It was not worthy to pay someone to do it, but slightly annoying from time to time. It was easier than expected.
Yesterday my gifted expensive headphones failed in the right side. After fiddling a little with the cable and checked in internet, apparently is a common thing. So I manage to disassemble and fix my headphones.
Soldering iron kit was about 15, and an excuse to learn something. It was already worthy just to mess with it. But in the last few months it saved me probably about ten times the price in little fixes.
Now I'm thinking in buying cheap and fixing the electronics of faulty instruments as a side gig.
