I always try to take things apart to see if there's something simple I can fix before I scrap stuff. After all if it's already not working then there's not much more damage you can do by exploring.
Had a solid win the other day.
The self propel on my mower started to die on me. It's a heavy mower and I have an inclined yard so it's kind of needed. I was debating on what to do so figured I'd start opening up things and see if I could find a motor I could replace.
While working I noticed the wheel guard had a giant piece missing. Took it off to find all of the teeth for the porpel gear were completely clogged with grass. Cleaned it out, ordered a replacement guard for $5, and mower is back up and running. Such a simple fix.
