So, this is a bit of a situation I don’t know how to deal with.
I took my car to get my breaks checked and anything done that could be done for fixing my car. They gave me a quote of $1508 to fix a master cylinder and the booster cylinder, and I said perfect! I’ll pay it. They have had my car since January 12 and I figured all was going well as they were calling to give me updates.
Here’s the situation, they called me today saying my car was ready to be picked up. I go in, and suddenly there’s an extra $300 charge for labor. I ask what that was, and they said they replaced the abs system and that was the charge for labor. The thing is, the abs module is a recall for this car, so I shouldn’t have to pay for it (and I was getting that squared away previously). They never called me about this item, never told me they were putting it in and when I asked for an itemized receipt, the part wasn’t on there and they charged me for the labor. I presume they’re trying to hide the fact that it was replaced and trying to charge even more for things I didn’t ask for.
I’m not sure what I should do in this situation, and I would really appreciate some advise. Please let me know if this is not the right subreddit and I’ll post in the right area.
TIA!!
Edit: They tried to get me to sign authorization papers while I was there, however I didn’t sign or pay for anything and left without the car.
