Looking for a possible explanation for a 403(b) account I have that currently shows a balance of zero. I (late 40's) have a 403(b) retirement account through Transamerica. It was set up by a local broker several years ago. It is an account that I put money in and have not done a lot with since. I received a statement in the mail today showing that the all the shares in the account had been sold. There were over 1,400 shares valued at around $26 each for a value of over $37,000. The statement now shows zero shares owned. I went online and checked my account which shows my portfolio balance was the $37,000 on Thursday, February 7th and that all shares were sold on Friday, February 8th and currently the portfolio/account balance is $0.

I did not request for anything to be sold, transferred or moved in any way. I called my investment rep at his office and left a voicemail with it being Saturday. He called me back about an hour later and I explained the problem to him and texted him a photo of the statement. He said he would look into it but of course really could not do anything until Monday morning.

While I want to believe there is a logical explanation for this it seems a bit unusual. Can anyone offer what might be a reason for this? What are some good questions I should ask when talking with him on Monday?
