Hello- I am currently in a...sticky situation with hospital bills.

I had a perforated appendix on February the 6th, and I went to the Emergency room. I stayed overnight and in the morning I had a laparoscopic appendectomy to have it cleaned up and removed. I was sent home post-op day 1 (the morning of the day after the surgery) and that same night at around 3AM I had another visit to the emergency room because I had a high fever (they instructed me to come back if I had a fever because it could be an infection). So that second stay started the 9th of February. I am currently still there (at the time of writing it's the 11th) being watched for more fevers (I have had about 5), and I expect to go home tomorrow. However, I am worried about the bill.

I have asked around and taken a look online, and it seems as if my bill will be around $20,000 USD after insurance.

I do not make nearly enough (between $10-20k per year w/ support from family) to afford this bill. How can I lower the bill/completely erase it (if possible)? These are hard times (as you all know...) and I am simply not able to pay the expensive healthcare fees. All advice is welcome and will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
