I just moved into a new home thats tiny and well insulated. Literally just 1 bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. There’s no central ac, so I have to use a box/window unit which I almost never run because I don’t need to.
This is my first month in it and I just got my electric bill which was $205. I’m not going to lie, I was shocked. The only thing I could think of was that it was due to me having to run the heater all day and night for like a week due to extreme temperatures because my usage was like over 1600kWH
My lights stay off almost all day until I get home from work, and I only ever keep one on at a time depending on the room I’m in. My TV stays off as well.
I just don’t understand how I could have used 1600kwh because I feel like I’m so careful with what I run and keep on. The heater/AC is the only explanation that I can really think of.
I’m waiting for the official paper bill to see if possibly they added other fees or deposits I wasn’t aware of but I just feel kind of in shock.
Also I live in a small town in Missouri, there’s a lot of lower income people around here so prices are lower as well.
