I tried researching this question but am still not sure of the answer, at least for my particular situation. If you have an opinion on gifting amount in general that's also welcome!
I haven't been outside in many years and was surprised that when I asked for the couple's gift registry, the bride (my friend) told me that everyone gives cash gifts now. I was asked to be a bridesmaid but am not well enough to go to the wedding (summer, depending on the pandemic), so I at least don't want to mess up the gift.
The couple is in their 30's, and the wedding of 100-150 people will be in the USA but following Asian traditions, if that makes any difference. My friend would give others $100 birthday gifts, which makes the gifting scale higher than what I'm familiar with. Worry over medical bills clouds my judgement, and I don't want that to influence what I give, so I hope to get an outsider's perspective. We were once close friends but haven't met in person for a long time.
Do people send money electronically, check, or cash? I feel like I'm visiting this century from the 1900's, haha. Thank you for any help!
