A simple way to get a good soup is to combine leftovers, or some vegetables with some ramen for a better soup. I'll often saute some onions, garlic and leftover chicken or vegetables (frozen, fresh or canned depending on what I've got on hand) then add the water and ramen noodles to end up with a heartier soup that the ramen would have been on its own. You can throw in some lime, ginger, sriracha, beef and green onion to get closer to a pho.
