I male $15/hr, so I'm not too bad off. I can pay for my immediate needs and house with about $150-200 leftover at the end of the month.
However I don't have health care, becuase it would leave me pretty much in the red every month if I did.
I'm not the lowest of the low, but I checked to see what kind of subsidies I could qualify for, and found out I can get a $89 tax credit towards health care which was pretty exciting!
I know there are tons of things out there, ranging from thermal efficiency assistance for housing to healthcare subsidies. What kind of benefits are out there that can be taken advantage of that makes living on a lower income easier and more comfortable?
