So I've tried to find a good diy video for turning an old cable spool into a kitchen table and unfortunately ive struggled to find one that specifically talks about the nails and bolts.........every spool in the videos looks as though the nails have previously been dealt withπ my spool has so many nails its frightening and I know the nails are necessary to keep it together....i would just remove or hammer down the nails but here's the thing.... the spool is the base for a round glass top so I REALLY need to smooth down the top of it before placing the glass on it....... so i need recommendations for how I can handle the nail and bolt issue without taking apart the table or destroying its original appearance....... so my main thought is to use wall sparkling and smooth it all and sand it but then it won't have the original wood look to it.....
