I work for a grocery store that offers raises every six months based on performance for that period. Our store ended up getting five coronavirus cases a couple months back and I took a leave of absence after we found out about the first one. Unknowingly, I disqualified myself from getting my raise and review for this period.

I got my first paystub back last Thursday (I get paid bi-weekly) and my base pay was 60 cents higher than it has been, meaning that I did get the raise. I wasn’t going to say anything, but now I’m afraid that I might have to pay the difference back at the end of this period or whenever they notice if I keep quiet.

I have an idea of how this happened that could make it to where I could keep it, but I’m still unsure if I should bring it up. If it’s something that would be taken away from me once I bring it up, wouldn’t I have to pay it back anyway once they do find out?

Let me know if there’s a better place to ask this, I couldn’t find anyone in this particular predicament online so I wanted to see what y’all would say about it directly.
