I've been to multiple garage sales where people are selling things at or even above the "new" cost, or an item just isn't in my budget. Sometimes I get lucky and cruise by afterwards to find the items I wanted on the curb just waiting for the garbage man. It doesn't always work, but I've snagged a handful of cool things for free or at much lower prices just because I haggled.
