So, I used one of the "You get $100, I get $100" Stitch Fix links that was posted here so that I could try the service out. TL;DR at the bottom.
The actual site goes really in depth to get information out of you. What's your age? Your height and weight? What brands do you like? What price points are you okay with? What are your preferred colors? What are your general sizes? What type of denim rise and cut do you like? Etc. There was so much that I felt like they had to at least give me something that I like, right? Well, these are my results:
I received 3 tops, 1 dress, and 1 jumpsuit
Size: The sizing is not good. I'm on the smaller end but I'm not anything out of the ordinary. When asked for top size and dress size, I chose a size 2 AND xs. Apparently though, Stitch fix automatically equates a size 2 into a small. So my profile size all says small. Which means that off the bat, nothing fit me. I'm confused because I worked in retail and nowhere is a size two a regular small. But whatever, if you really like piece then you can exchange it. And that would be all good and well if I did but I didn't.
Style: The style was just off. Maybe I can say that nothing I got was ugly but it was definitely not what I wanted nor anything I would wear. I was asked if there's any fabrics I like to stay away from and I put polyester. Almost my whole fix was polyester. Additionally, during the process of telling them about my personal style, I was asked about any styles I'd like to try. I said cottagecore. Did I get a pinafore dress? A peasant blouse? Puffy sleeves? A milk maid dress? No. My stylist gave me a crochet front keyhole knit top and called it a staple of cottagecore. I asked for bright colors and I got one white shirt. I also said that I like athleisure. My stylist said that they could not find any colorful athleisure pieces so they went with something else. That through me off because it's by no means hard to find colorful athleisure items. I put that I like to show off my back, legs, and midsection. Nothing is backless, no crop tops, and the dress goes past my knees. The items are honestly, just giving me church vibes. I don't feel any youthfulness. Nothing here seems like it's meant for the average mid 20's girl and definitely not myself.
The price: It's okay but I honestly feel like for the actual items provide, they are not worth it. I would never pay $80 for an all polyester dress. I chose my price point to generally be $50-$100 and nothing I received feels worth it's actual price.
The exclusivity: A big thing that appealed to me was that Stitch fix would have some original pieces. So I figured that that would mean I might come across some new things or I might see something unique. Nope. It's all very boring, run of the mill.
TLDR: The sizing is off, the stylist didn't listen, the price seems too much for the actual products, and the items aren't anything special.
