I’m looking to replace a load bearing wall. Technically it’s two separate load bearing walls. There is a 6ft span that is load bearing then another 6ft span after that that rests on a different wall then another 8ft load bearing. How exactly do I size a beam for that? It’s a 2 story house 1ft poured foundation with 2x4 construction. The basement directly below the load bearing wall is a 7in steel I beam that is the full 20ft span into the foundation and a supporting post directly in the center.
