Wife gave birth in February and hospital was out of network, next closest one that was in network was another 30 minutes away. Wife went to the emergency room at 1 AM, was moved up to the maternity ward and gave birth about 9 hours later. None if it was planned/induced. According to the insurance, none of the services is labeled as "emergency" and so they are refusing to cover it. The hospital says there is no other way to bill the insurance for the services. We've had her doctor double check the services in the hospital files. We've been on the phone for hours with insurance, we even signed authorization papers for the hospital to appeal it for us. Insurance has denied all appeals saying it's out of network and not an emergency. This is for both the delivery and the care of my baby.
