This may not work for most but worked for me for the past year so I wanted to share. Last year, I purchased one year Tracfone service that includes 1500 min talk, 1500 text, and 1.5 gb data from HSN for $79.99. Then, I downloaded google voice and made that my main number but also had it forwarded to Tracfone service number. )You can also port your current number to GV for $20 and keep your number.) By default, I have data off and turn on only when I need data for something. I am either at home, or at work, and both have wifi, so only time I need data is when I am traveling to/from work, or out on weekends, etc. So when someone calls me when I have wifi, both phone and GV ring, and I pick up GV. I also make calls using GV when wifi is available. As of today, I have 531 mb of data, 1490 texts, and 1145 minutes remaining on the service. I used very few texts because I am usually driving if I am away from wifi connection. Another plus is Tracfone uses Verizon towers for this phone and the reception has been excellent everywhere.

My one year anniversary is coming up and I saw same phone with same plan on Ebay for $49.99, basically making cell service $4/month for the month for next year of service. They also threw in bluetooth earbuds, which is nice, but something I probably will not be using. Only downside is the phone only comes with 16 gb of memory so if you use a lot of apps, you will run out of memory relatively quickly. If you are in similar situation, this is definitely something to look into. I don't know what the rule is for linking a vendor site but if you type in Tracfone Moto e5 1 year service, I am sure you will be able to find the posting I am referring to. I am not related to the company nor am I compensated but hoping this will help someone.
