I am building a new house and have been working with Wells Fargo since early January on the financing. I have them everything they asked for a couple of months ago, the house had final inspection on 04/22, and the loan still has not closed. Apparently the underwriter they sent it to for final approval is new and has made a few mistakes. Rather than fighting on the first couple, I just made the changes on the paperwork and resubmitted it. Last week, though, we found out the underwriter misinterpreted some policy and unnecessarily sent the loan for some kind of second level review. I have escalated through my agent, but is there anything else I should be doing? I am now in breach of my purchase contract and the builder has every right to cancel the contract and keep my 10% earnest money.
