Hello everyone,
I just wanted to brag about my frugality for last two months. Due to covid 19 I haven't gone out at all in the last 3 months and didn't order / take out any food from outside restaurants. I mostly cooked oatmeals and sandwiches for breakfast and rice and beans for lunch and dinner.
Feeling proud about my expenses last few months. Just wanted to share it with everyone.
Background : Male / 27 years old / Single / Living alone in New Jersey USA / Doesn't own a car. / Doesn't drink or smoke.
Average Expenses per month:
Rent : 850 USD including electricity and water.
Health insurance : 250 USD
Groceries : 200 USD
Huel: 115 USD
Entertainment : Netflix + Amazon prime = 22 per month
Uber : 30 USD
Total : Approximately 1475 USD.
Expenses excluding rent and health insurance: 375 USD.
Savings rate: 73%.
I live close to my office, so used to walk everyday to office.
Before the lockdown, I was eating 3 meals outside every weekend and using Uber 4 times every week to go outside every weekend to watch movies..
So my expenses were close to 1700 to 1800 USD per month.( Savings rate of 66 to 69 % ) pre covid lock down.
Lockdown has shown me that I need not eat outside every week and I would still remain sane.
Now if only I could control my desire to eat food due to boredom.
Please share your thoughts and let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks and Best wishes for your FIRE journey.
