Throwaway account here just looking for any advice.
I have been offered a job at a company (Employer A) with a salary in the middle 100K range and also some pretty impressive benefits (completely pay for healthcare premiums and HRA usually funds any deductibles incurred, 8%-10% towards retirement every year, and usually an annual bonus that I heard can be anywhere from 5K - 10K, roughly)
I put in my 2 week notice and my current employer (Employer B) pulled me aside and basically told me that I had a ton of bargaining power and could essentially name my price. They don't have as impressive of benefits (healthcare family plan costs roughly $450 - $630 monthly depending on what level plan you choose, 6% towards retirement, and, in my experience, no annual bonus. In my 3 years at the company I have received one bonus of 10%)
Culturally, I have no issues working for either company. They both have opportunities to place me at locations within 20 miles from my house which is 30 - 60 minutes depending on traffic. They both offer comparable amounts of PTO. I mainly chose to leave my job because I was denied a promotion last fall, but there was a reorg this winter and I was placed on a new team which apparently seems to value me a lot more. I came back to Employer B and told them that based on the comparison of total compensation I'd reconsider if they doubled my salary which would place me in the upper 100K range.
I would personally be surprised if they agreed to that, but it's now been almost 24 hours since I gave them my demands and I still haven't heard their decision. I would have expected it to come sooner if it was out of their range. But I'm basically just wondering if there is anything I'm missing or not considering here. The health/retirement benefits and regular bonus at Employer A are quite nice which is why I asked for a greater salary at Employer B to cover the loss in total compensation. The difference between Employer A offer and my demand to Employer B is ~30K.
