With rates for longer CD terms actually lower in some cases, does laddering still make sense under those scenarios? The best I can find, a 4 year is the same as a 12 month, and from what I've read CD laddering makes most sense when longer terms offer the higher rates. I assume CD rates are not going to go up significantly in the next 2 years, so does it make sense to lock in the best long rate now, or just put it all in a shorter term CD and review again after say 12 months? Curious on opinions.
