For the past year and a half I have been thinking about moving to the southern US. I have lived all my life (28 yrs) in Minnesota, and the winters have been absolutely brutal. As a kid, it was fun. As an adult, I cannot stand the snow and cold. So I have been thinking of moving south. Maybe to Florida, Georgia, or South Carolina. I have visited in the thick of the summer and the heat, although high, is bearable to me. At least, more than the winter cold here in the North.

My company has offices in all of these states, with the ability to transfer out to any of them (among other states as well). My wife is an accountant, so she could likely find work in any of these places as well.

But we feel like we should stay for family. We do spend time with family monthly or bi-monthly. It can be nice, but sometimes it can be a lot too. When I think about moving, I think about the freedom to spend my time without the obligation to always involve myself in family matters all the time. But to never do it may also be hard.

I'm not really looking for anyone here to tell me what to do. Maybe just some advice/another perspective. This subreddit has helped me a lot so I really respect the thoughts and opinions of people here, even if I don't always agree.

Cheers.
