I work in collections in South Carolina. My employer is offering extra hours during the holiday but is paying our regular rate for the extra hours. Is this legal?

I work 8-5 Mon-Fri I was upset when I volunteered for all these overtime hours these past few weeks just for someone to tell me that the hours we worked are considered "extra hours" and not overtime, so we wouldn't be getting time and a half. Is that legal?
