I don't know if this has ever been posted before, but I wanted to pass it along because it has recently saved me a ton of money!
I was introduced to a "Buy Nothing" group a few months ago. A Buy Nothing group is "a Facebook group that’ll give you a hands-on chance to take part in a social movement spreading across the globe, enabling people and communities to commit episodic acts of daily good together."
Basically, the idea is to pass on things you were going to get rid of, for free, instead of them ending up in the landfill. A few months ago, my dryer died, and instead of buying a new one, or even a used one, I was able to get one for free from this group from someone who moved to a new place that already had a washer/dryer and they had their own. I was also able to pass down a box spring and mattress that an old roommate left behind for someone who needed it for their daughter. I've seen so many people gift and be gifted and so many things kept out of landfills.
You can go here to learn more about the project https://buynothingproject.org/
And here to see if there are any groups in your area https://buynothingproject.org/find-a-group/
I hope this is helpful to someone :-)
