I'm looking for an apartment and found someone subletting. He moved to NY. Went through the normal negotiation stuff. I submitted a rental application that included my name, birthday, last four digits of bank account and a picture of my drivers license.
He followed up with a sublease document that looks legitimate and everything, but then gave his landlords banking information and asked for a wire transfer. This is all before I saw the apartment. It's all so obvious now, but I was in a desperate spot and wasn't thinking clearly.
I responded by telling him I was excited to rent from him, but I wanted to see the apartment and meet the landlord in person first.
I never wired any money or anything, but what can i do to mitigate the fact i already shared all the above info?
I know I was probably pretty stupid, please don't point that out.
