Hello, I will soon be a professional student (in the USA) and I’m trying to remain a qualifying relative after I am no longer a qualifying child so that I can be claimed as a dependent under my parent. They are employed at the university I attend so as long as I am their dependent, I will get reduced tuition at this university.
From my understanding, I have to make less than $4150 during the year I want to be claimed as a dependent after I turn 24. So does that mean during he year I turn 24, I will have to limit my income even though I was 23 for over half of that year? I am just confused on the timeline of when I have to cut back my work/switch to unpaid work so I can get the tuition benefits. Thanks!
