My parents are looking into moving into a new home in Vancouver, but have come across some problems. The staircase’s handrail isn’t tall enough and built up to modern standards/code.I’m not sure what to do, because they’ve searched 25+ houses and this one is perfect except they cannot move in because of this one small issue. If it matters, my stepfather is a US customs agent that will be working in Vancouver for the next 3-4 years, so they’re very strict about getting these things done correctly.Taking down the entire handrail and installing a new one is apparently very expensive and can’t be done for reasons I’m not sure I understand (I can inquire and find out if you need). Meanwhile I’m considering trying to find out if it’s possible to extend the handrail somehow, possibly doing it on our own. All the googling I’ve done seems like it’s feasible but I’m not sure how to go about it.Looking for any help! I know I’m lacking tons of info but if you need specific stuff I’ll try and find out.Edit; pictureshttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1r2fdvdQsxWqNUzlz-ndTtwbmAOtRfAey/view?usp=drivesdkhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/18WCDBuLm2FM0hhK6BR0K-Z3N4FnGPFCs/view?usp=drivesdk via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2yqCdRE
