Currently have the Patagonia Cloud Ridge and it's pretty decent. Not as breathable as I would like, but it is relatively lightweight and I do appreciate the versatility. I stumbled across the Beta AR on various sale prices, and it's tempting to consider it as a second, more durable and long lasting jacket. I'm looking at it as more of an investment as opposed to the few years I assume I'll get from the Cloud Ridge. I'm generally outdoorsy and my job requires occasional, uh, rugged field work. Not partial to any particular sport other than trail running and cycling.
TBH--might just be because the jacket looks freaking rad and I just want justification for the purchase. However, certain sale prices make me think that taking advantage of such a discounted and durable(?) jacket might be worth the price.
I'd love to get some extra thoughts on it! I think the Cloud Ridge is a solid jacket, and it's a relatively recent purchase (in the last month). Now I'm wondering if the Beta AR would do the job better, and for longer. Thoughts?
