The central A/C unit inside my rental house is leaking small amounts of water from the spot where the condensate drain line comes out of the unit. Before I call the landlord for further diagnostics (i.e. rusted drain pan, low refrigerant, or any other causes of excess condensate) I’d like to try disconnecting the drain line and checking for clogs myself. My unit does not have a condensate pump, and I change my filters every 3 months.I’d like to avoid calling my landlords unless absolutely necessary, and I hypothesize that since a clogged drain line is the most common and easiest to fix cause of this type of leak, I ought to at least rule it out myself.I have a medium skill level with DIY and home repairs. How would you go about clearing this line?Heres a PicAnd another pic(The pan you see is my temporary water catchment system.)Where would you disconnect the PVC? From the unit? Then run a snake of some sort down the line?Edited to add that the unit seems to be running fine and is cooling as expected, which doesn’t lead me to suspect low refrigerant as the cause of the excess condensate. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2EB8xV6
