Hi there. I work in a reserve. It's really muddy. It's full of spiny plants that are comparable to nails in terms of strength, shape and sharpness. They keep puncturing the soles or sides of my boots. it hurts a lot.
I'm trying to find a boot that's puncture proof, but won't crap the bed from all the mud. OR, is just puncture proof, but lightweight and cheap.
I don't need waterproofing, strictly speaking. If not that, then something that will dry quickly. I've been looking around at "jungle boots", but none of them seem to have puncture resistant materials around the base of the foot. The redwings I bought before were puncture resistant but just couldn't keep up with all the mud and became almost permanently waterlogged and miserable.
Perhaps this is just a job where BIFL doesn't apply. Maybe I'll just have to compromise here and buy two pairs of cheap, PR boots and leave one too dry every other day. Who knows.
