As the title says, I'm going to college soon and want to get some gear to last. I'm trying to keep it to under $100 per item.
Earbuds! I'm going to be using them daily for hours at a time for as long as I can see in the future. I do NOT want bluetooth, as I'll either misplace them or forget to charge them. So far I've been recommended the following:
Shure SE215 - Recommended from here! One user claimed 12 years of near-daily use.
Sennheiser CX300 II Also BIFL reccomended, though a lot cheaper.
Headphones! These will be primarily for use at my computer. I want wired as well, and sound quality is important to me. I prefer a bassier sound, though that can be adjusted with software. Noise Cancellation isn't a must, but I won't say no to it.
Meidong E7B Extremely highly rated on Amazon, as well as well priced. They're capable of bluetooth or wired.
JVC HARX700 I had these for about 4 years, until they got broken. I remember them being very good quality and would buy them again.
A rain jacket! I'm heavily involved in hiking and camping, live in the Pacific Northwest, and will be going to college in upstate New York, so a good rain jacket is a must. GoreTex is nice but not a must-have. I'm willing to spend a bit extra here, given the importance of staying dry.
A flashlight! I already have a good quality headlamp, but a smaller flashlight I can carry in my pocket would be great. My dad has the Streamlight 66604 but he hasn't had it for long and I don't know how durable it'll be.
A backpack! I'll need something to carry all this in. Ideally it'll have a few large and a few small pockets, and be able to accommodate my laptop as well as a few textbooks and binders.
A power bank! Something that can charge my phone a few times if I'm away from a plug (or forget to charge it overnight)
What else? I'm sure I've missed something. A small mutlitool, maybe.
