Hey r/DIY!Just moved into an apt and my wife and I are discovering the floorboard are creaky and cheeeeaapp. We can here every footstep our downstairs neighbors take (and we're dealing with a situation where there are many people in and out of the apartment for much of the day. It's unbearable and makes sleeping really hard. We are on the top floor.I'm wondering what actions we can take to reduce this noise (mostly low frequency rumbles and shakes)? My initial thoughts are to buy some good carpeting for our bedroom but I'm not sure which kind to look for. I also have read to use bass traps, paneling and maybe even hanging drywall. We're renters so I think our options are limited on the DIY front but I'm curious what people recommend as we can even ask the landlord to do some of these things if we don't feel within our rights to do them.Gonna crosspost this to r/HomeImprovement as well. Thanks and have a great day. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2WzmUjU
