Back in 2017, my wife and I (who file jointly) filed as soon as we received our W2’s. We each received a 1099 shortly after filing, but the amount was small. The CP2000 stared that we should have received a total of 5 1099’s, and they’re right, but we only got 1 each. (2 out of a total of 5). The total amount of the 1099’s is what they’re saying that we owe. That doesn’t make any sense to me. I know that the CP2000 is a computer generated form, and I believe it made a mistake. I have been trying to get a hold of my tax person (Jackson Hewitt), but haven’t been able to reach them for over 2 weeks. The form requires a response by the 8th of this month. I’m a little concerned, and I know how serious owing money to the IRS can be, and that’s not something I’d like to have hanging over our heads. Your input is appreciated!
