Hi - I have GE appliances with brushed steel facade / skin on the handles. The handles are made of standard plastic but have the metal look applied via a wrapping process (I don't know the correct name). The microwave is situated above the range, with its handle situated right above the "max blast" element. Over time, the heat peels this skin off the microwave handle (see photo below).Per my googling, this is a known issue for this model but GE doesn't really care. I was able to get a replacement while under warranty and GE sent me an entire door, but the issue is back.I don't want to trash a working microwave a cosmetic issue, but I also don't want to spend more than the microwave is worth.I have explored replacing with a simple black handle, but that won't look so great, since it won't match our other appliances. I think this will be my last option.I thought about getting a metal handle made for it, but this would heat from the range and possibly melt the door, or cause safety issues. Can I take the handle someplace to get it rewrapped? What can I do?
